Cartooning with Jason Seiler (3/5)

Author: Larry Seiler, Associate Editor

Next the pencil drawing is inked using an acrylic black India Ink ("FW" brand). Jason, prefers acrylic ink because it dries absolutely waterproof, (for his use of watercolors later), and the lines are crisp and clear.

For a pen, he uses almost entirely the crow quill pen, and the text boxes or "balloons" are drawn in as well.

"Professional cartoonists tend to do their own lettering by hand in the balloons...and type set looks sorta tacky...", Jason elaborates.
