Angles and Shapes
Getting Your Drawing Off on the Right Foot - A Different Approach
Author: Randy Robinson, Contributing Editor
| If your basic shapes and angles are off when you start a drawing or painting, it can cost you hours of work later trying to get the piece to work. Have you ever been half-way through a drawing or painting, and you just can't get something to look right? On closer look, you find you've got the neck too long, or an arm too short? This kind of problem can be very difficult to fix after you are well past the beginning sketch. This technique I am going to demonstrate here makes it easy to get an accurate representation of your subject from the very beginning which simplifies adding details and values to end up with an accurate drawing.
I will use a fairly simple shape of a deer for this demonstration. You may need to adjust your screen's resolution and your browser's window size to get the graphics to show up side by side. |
